The Government of India, Ministry of Communications, Department of Posts (Personnel Division), has issued a clarification regarding the categories of officials eligible for the Meghdoot Awards 2025

The clarification, released on October 30, 2025, through a letter to all Head of Postal Circles, refers to an earlier Directorate letter dated August 27, 2025, which circulated the revised framework, eligibility criteria, and timelines for the awards.

Eligibility Restricted to Six Categories

The nominations for the Meghdoot Awards 2025 are restricted to six specific categories of officials. Detailed assessment parameters and an evaluation framework have already been finalized for these categories.

The eligible categories are as follows:

  • GDS-Branch Postmaster (BPM)
  • GDS-BPM with Delivery Duty
  • Delivery Staff (ABPM/MTS / Postman)
  • Sub-Postmaster (LSG / HSG-II) of Delivery Sub Office (SO)
  • Sub-Postmaster (LSG/HSG-II) of Non-Delivery Sub Office (SO)
  • Postmaster (HSG-I) of Head Office (HO)

Requests for Additional Categories Held in Abeyance

The official communication confirms that requests for including additional categories have been kept in abeyance for the current award cycle.

This includes requests for cadres such as:

  • Technology Excellence
  • Inspector Posts / ASP cadres
  • Sorting Assistants
  • Other supervisory and clerical cadres

The clarification, signed by Vinod Kumar, Assistant Director General (SPN) , confirms that the directive has the approval of the competent authority
